With our subway app and photo equipment in hand, we navigated over to the Naksan Park area. It was cloudy when we left, so we figured it would be a cooler day for us in Seoul. We were wrong. By the time we arrived in the Naksan Park area, the sun was out and we had to stop for ice cream and water. It was a pleasant stop though, since we had no idea what was about to hit us. I look at it now as the calm before the storm. Robert had told me that once I got off the subway, I'd have to ask someone local how to get to the fish stairs exactly. I had the photo of the fish stairs on my ipad and showed it to one guy right outside of the subway. He spoke ok English and got us closer, but still not to where we needed to be. So, I asked the guy in the convenience store where we bought our icecream and water and he used sign language to get us further. Further as in hiking up Mt. Kilimanjaro! When we saw the hike upward we had to take in the heat, we ALMOST didn't go, but Teppy agreed (even though I knew she was cursing me inside). We had to take frequent breaks. This photo is from when we got to the almost top of the mountain:
After taking our stairs pictures, we continued to explore the area for about 30 minutes. There was so much fantastic art work around that had it been a lot bit cooler, we would have stayed and photographed it all. But, it wasn't cooler and I had Dave's photo, so we made haste and got the heck off that mountain where we were developing farmers' tans and swamp ass. One thing I remember about this place is that at the very top, after we had climbed even higher above the fish stairs, we saw a girl walking with her boyfriend in 4 inch heels. I almost got up and congratulated her. She had just won a gold medal in my olympic handbook. Imagine climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro on toothpics! You Go Girl! Whoever you were!
A drama was filmed here. Do you remember King 2 Hearts? It is in my top 5 of all dramas ever watched. Here is a link to see a photo from King 2 Hearts taken at Naksan Park:
